The Hong Kong practice
What does Timothy Loh actually do?
The firm works across corporate law, tax, financial-services regulation, trusts and estates, and dispute resolution. Its industry focus includes banks, hedge and mutual funds, private equity, insurers, securities firms, family offices and fintech businesses. That gives trainees a mix of regulatory, transactional, contentious and private-client work rather than a single corporate pipeline.
Its careers material describes a non-hierarchical environment without minimum billing-hour targets, while making clear that the work and service expectations remain demanding. The firm says its growth is driven primarily through recruiting and developing its own trainee solicitors.

Selection process
What should applicants expect?
After the online application, shortlisted candidates have a first interview focused on experience, interests and fit. A selected group then attends a more formal second interview using technical, situational and behavioural questions. The firm says it aims to make vacation-scheme offers within three weeks of the second interview. Strong scheme participants can be invited to stay for a training contract without submitting a separate application.
